“I really can’t put in to words how glad I am that I agreed to be referred to Hospice and my appreciation of the support I’ve received.”
“I was referred to Hospice by one of the Oncology nurses who suggested it might be helpful for me after (another) diagnosis of cancer.
While I felt relatively fit and well and have had no problems with side effects of chemotherapy, I was more than happy to accept the referral – I’ve never had a fear of the Hospice or thought of it as a place only for people who are very ill.
My experience over the past few months has been so positive. I’ve been lucky enough to have had the support of four different teams:
In addition to all this, I’ve discovered Elaine’s café and use that as a base to meet members of my family before or after hospital appointments for a bowl of delicious soup and some of their amazing chips!
I’m aware there are many other services available which I haven’t made use of, and all of that without any mention of end-of-life care.
I really can’t put into words how glad I am that I agreed to be referred to Hospice and my appreciation of the support I’ve received. Hopefully my treatment will continue for a long time, and I will be able to receive their support for more years.”
