As I look at the Hospice we have today, I am so proud and truly inspired by the hard work and complete dedication of the wonderful Hospice staff, volunteers, supporters, partners, and our overtly devoted committee and board members, who have all fully committed themselves to helping our patients and those who matter to them, at a time when they really do need it most. Everyone’s compassion has truly warmed my heart.
As time moves on and we welcome new and exciting ventures, we must also say goodbye to our wonderfully committed, long-serving Chairman, Sir Miles Walker as he steps down from the position.
Miles has shown us nothing but support, leadership and true compassion over the years, both during his time on our Board of Governors, and as our outstanding Chairman. Indeed Miles was absolutely committed to the launch of our new strategy "Much More than a Building" which was robustly consulted on so that Hospice can deliver what really matters to you.
When I first met Miles back in 2016, his love for Hospice was undeniable and I truly appreciate his guidance at the beginning of my Hospice journey, I will never forget how truly inspirational and supportive he was to me, and for that I thank him from the bottom of my heart.
Miles has facilitated countless decisions over the years whilst chairing our Board of Governors, which has helped us form the Hospice we all know and love today. As well as chairing, Miles' supportive nature has been second-to-none, helping with numerous events, meeting our patients and their loved ones and delivering many heart-felt community speeches over the years.
I’m sure you will all join me in extending a sincere heart-felt “Thank you” to Sir Miles for his many years of unwavering support, for which we will be forever grateful.
As one door closes another one opens and I am delighted that a friendly face and well-established member of our Board of Governors, Chris Hall has agreed to take the helm as our new Chairman.
Chris has played a fundamental role in the Hospice journey over recent years, and has continuously shown the utmost passion. It will be no surprise to hear that Chris has led the development of our digital strategy and played a key role in the development of our new website as well as being a key supporter of our new strategy. He follows on with the key message that Hospice delivers care that matters to the people who use our services.
Throughout 2019 and the next five years, we will be implementing the strategy as a whole workforce to drive our new purpose forward, with ongoing support from our Board of Governors and indeed Chris as our new Chairman. Together we can really make a difference in taking this plan from vision to reality. To view our five year strategy click here >>>

I am sure your support and good-will will play a core part in the future of Hospice and we are so lucky to have you.
