Meet our Volunteering Team - Amanda Collister

Each of our teams hold a vital piece of the puzzle in making up Hospice Isle of Man.

Our Volunteer Team look after over 450 incredible, dedicated volunteers who help make Hospice what it is.

We wouldn’t be here without our volunteers, therefore we wouldn't be here without the people that do a fantastic job at looking after them! Next, let's meet with the newest member of our volunteering team; Amanda Collister.

What’s your role?
"I am now Volunteer Services Support Administrator for Hospice. Our department supports around 450 volunteers across the charity."

How long have you been at Hospice?
"I’ve been at Hospice since 30th December 2024."

What does a day look like in your role?
"My day is never the same.  I start with checking emails and phone messages to make sure that both receptions and the café are covered, and if anyone has called in sick I will look for someone to cover.  I deal with new applications, and all the checks that are required.  After that my day varies a lot depending on what queries we get by email or phone, or if I need to help cover a shift.  I am still learning a lot, finding my feet and trying to get to know the volunteers."

What’s your favourite thing about working at Hospice?
"The people. I have never worked somewhere that has such a nice feeling and everyone is so nice."

Share a highlight story or a favourite memory from your time at Hospice.
"My highlight so far is a tricky one as I have only been here a month – I think it’s probably how much I have laughed so far with staff and volunteers.  It makes the days pass easily and quickly."
