Launch of the second Wild In Art trail; The Big Splash!

HOSPICE ISLE OF MAN TO CREATE BIG SPLASH WITH THEIR NEW WILD IN ART TRAIL FOR 2022! 

Following the success of Wallabies Gone Wild, Hospice Isle of Man has announced it will be hosting a second art trail across the Isle of Man next year; The Big Splash!

Created in partnership with trail producers Wild in Art, The Big Splash will see a number of large dolphin sculptures beautifully decorated by both local and national artists, showcasing the wealth of artistic talent of the Island and beyond.

The pod of dolphins will arrive on the Island in May 2022 forming an art trail for visitors and locals alike to enjoy throughout the summer. The art trail will also raise awareness and vital funds for Hospice Isle of Man, helping ensure that Hospice can always provide their services and support for the people of the Island to live well, their way to the end of their life.

The project has already been many months in the planning and now the momentum is growing with the official sculpture reveal event having taken place at The Sound Café on Wednesday 30^th June.

“After a difficult year with the ongoing pandemic, we are delighted to announce the launch of our second art trail which will bring colour and positivity for the whole Island to look forward to. The public really loved our previous trail; Wallabies Gone Wild, and we hope they will enjoy the colourful dolphins in 2022 just as much, and help make it an even bigger success for us here at Hospice.”With Wallabies Gone Wild raising more than £250,000 at their previous auction held in September 2019, Hospice Isle of Man is keen to make the 2022 art trail an even bigger success.As well as the large dolphin sculptures, there will again be smaller dolphin sculptures to be created as part of the education programme. The ‘Calves’ are looking forward to engaging with young people and schools across the Island."

The next plan for Hospice and the dolphins is to encourage local businesses and organisations to get involved by sponsoring a sculpture or lending other practical support.

The 2022 sculpture was chosen for various reasons including to celebrate our outstanding marine environment and to align with the distinctiveness of the Island in light of us having two resident bottlenose dolphins around our shores. Additionally, dolphins are associated with community, connection and compassion which is something that Hospice encompasses into our service for both patients and their families. Our hope is that our trail of life-size dolphins brings happiness to the Isle of Man and we look forward to seeing people when they’re out and about completing the trail throughout summer 2022.”
