Hospice Isle of Man believes that kindness plays a big part in improving community wellbeing, citizenship and creating a sense of belonging, and were delighted to create compassionate opportunities Island wide on this year’s World Kindness Day, Tuesday 13th November 2018.
As world kindness day began, Hospice provided delicious, compassionate cards with sweet treats to all the primary and secondary school children across the Island encouraging them to not only enjoy their treat, but to share them amongst their peers as a random act of kindness. The hashtag #CompassionateIOM encouraged the young people and their parents to trend the event on social media platforms, and before we knew it both Facebook and Twitter soon saw a quick response to the gesture as photographs and thank you messages soon flooded in.
Along with this, 500 compassionate cards with Hospice pin badges were distributed to participating local businesses, who were encouraged to deliver random acts of kindness themselves. This saw many business giving out coffees, lunch time treats, flower deliveries, delicious goodies and many more fantastic acts of kindness. Stories and photographs were shared on social media and had such a positive response for both the local businesses and for the Hospice message.
Hospice is delighted that so many people joined in on World Kindness Day and helped spread the love across the Island, inspiring compassionate thoughts and actions to our community.
